Flowers

The other day I was taking photos out in the gardens and the light was just about perfect so here are three of my favorite photos. You should be able to see the images in full size if you click on the photo.

I love zinnias almost as much as I love irises. There are at least a dozen different varieties in the mix MrsGF put in back around the old stump.

Something, we aren’t sure what, has been eating the buds off our lilies but this one somehow managed to survive.

And then there’s this one, which is my personal favorite.

Just look at the color on that little poppy. It’s so brilliant that it almost glows.

That’s it for now.

  1. You’re very fortunate to be able to plant, grow, and enjoy a variety of such beautiful flowers. Of course, a big part of your success is YOU (and your wife) and your careful care. Kudos.

  2. I love your flowers. Once, a long time ago, I planted some Zinnias around the boundaries of an apartment that I had rented and I used a lot of a fertilizer called “Super Manure” and those zinnias zoomed up to the height of sun flowers almost. It was amazing.

    1. Zinnias are amazing, aren’t they? Ours are, oh, maybe 2 – 3 feet tall. Our sun flowers didn’t do very well this year. Well we only had a couple of them. They’re all done already and going to seed. Everything is running about a month ahead of normal this year. We’ve already had to pull all of the onions and start hardening them off for storage because some were starting to go bad already. Another few days and we’ll probably be getting ripe tomatoes. Also weeks ahead of normal. Oh well
