Poppies? My friend at work was just lamenting that the poppies she planted didn’t come up. So we looked it up. She did literally everything wrong in planting them. Planted in wet soil. Planted too shallow. Put heavy clumping wet soil on top of them. We laughed til we cried.

No – tulips, right? I should have looked more carefully.

Yep, a variety of tulip (I think??) in my neighbor’s yard. The colors are absolutely brilliant.
