Is this the most boring video on Youtube? Probably not but it should be in the running.
Now, coming to a screen near you soon, The Compost Pile!

No surprise, Grouchy, but that’s the first (and probably last) time I have watched someone biking around a random compost pile in the middle of some weird kind of industrial facility. It’s certainly different! 😊
Best wishes, Pete.

It is different, isn’t it? LOL That’s actually down at the end of my street about 3 blocks from my house. That’s the town border down there. The industrial facility you see at the end of the street is the alfalfa mill, a cattle feed processing facility. Having the compost site that close, though, is fantastic. We get unlimited quantities of free compost and wood chips just a couple of blocks away.

Free compost is a bonus, as long as you don’t live too close to the smell! 😊

Having it just a couple of blocks away is great. We just hook our little trailer to the riding lawn mower and buzz down there and load up whenever it’s available. A well done compost system shouldn’t really smell bad. It will sometimes give off a sort of earthy kind of smell, but that’s it.

Well, I watched the compost video and I liked it…I am a former biker myself and this looks like some of the stuff I might have done when I was riding my hybrid bike a few years ago —so yeah, it is a great video– sort of like an extended tik tok feature — keep up the good work.

Thanks. It’s one of the more silly things I’ve ever done but it was fun to make.
This was more an experiment than anything else. I’ll probably do an article just about doing videos in the future to explain my thinking (or lack of thinking) when it comes to videos. Maybe.
Biggest problem I’ve run into so far… Well there are two problems really. The first is the bike mount. It basically sucks big time. It bolts to the handlebars of the bike and to get the SD card out or swap out batteries means I have to physically unbolt the camera from the mount which is a pain in the neck. I have what I hope will be a better mounting system that should be coming today or tomorrow that could make it easier.
The second problem is that I’ve been using Apple’s iMovie to do editing and I absolutely hate it. I think it’s necessarily awkward to use even for simple edits. But then I remembered I don’t need to use that. I have Adobe’s “professional” editing software on the Windows computers, duh… So I need to pull the videos off the Mac and transfer them to one of the other computers and give that a try.

Don’t worry, if I keep this up they’ll probably get worse
I’m still experimenting with this thing. The GoPro camera… It was one of those “well it seemed like a good idea at the time” kind of things. It popped up on Woot one day at a huge discount and the next thing I knew there it was, sitting on the table and I was wondering what the heck was I going to do with it now. I’m essentially a lazy person and making videos is surprisingly labor intensive, so how often I’ll do something like this remains to be seen.
