Yes, I'm a former farmer. Sort of. I'm also an amateur radio operator, amateur astronomer, gardener, maker of furniture, photographer.

The cat sketches are not only adorable and cute but they are totally relevant and welcome. Thank you for sharing them.
Thanks. I should confess that I cheat. These start out as rough sketches on paper of my own two tabby cats, Charlie and Mercy. I scan them into Photoshop and then use a drawing tablet to refine the sketches and a combination of Photoshop and AI tools to smooth things out and fill in the tedious bits like the fur. Drawing all that fur by hand would take hours while the AI takes a few seconds and does a better job than I could.
I BELIEVE I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT YOU MEAN….AND OYU DO A REALLY GREAT JOB AT IT- THIS IS MY OWN FEEBLE ATTEMPT BUT IT COMES NOWHERE NEAR BEING AS GOOD AS YOURS.
That’s a charming picture. 🙂 As these AI image generators get better and better I suspect magazine illustrators are going to have to look for a new line of work.
I do indeed. So does my wife. We both grew up on farms where we had cats in abundance. When we first got married we were without a cat for two or three years. But as soon as we were in a situation where we could get a cat, we did, and we’ve had the little stinkers ever since. Almost all were adopted from people who couldn’t keep them any longer for whatever or adopted from shelters. Curiously all were Siamese until we got our two tabby cats.
On the farm we had almost that many. But a lot of them were what I suppose you could all “community cats”. They didn’t really belong to anyone. Farms were much smaller back then and pretty close to one another, so the cats, who were always opportunists, of course, traveled from one farm to another. They’d hang out at one place for a while, then go visit someone else for a few days, etc.

There was a time when I was about 13 years old when I had 14 of the little fellas.
