Weird stuff at WordPress

I’m not sure what’s going on with WP this morning but I’ve been running into all kinds of issues here. I can’t “Like” posts or comments on other WP sites, I can’t Like comments on my own blog, for heaven’s sake. I can’t access WP tools from my website, only if I go directly to my administration page. All kinds of weird stuff. I don’t know if it’s something local (i.e. and issue with my browser) or if this is effecting other people. Hopefully it’s just a temporary thing, possibly caused by system overloads. It’s about 7 AM local time so that means a hell of a lot of people are probably trying to get online to check emails, do work, school, etc so it could be just some kind of overload.

Yes, I'm a former farmer. Sort of. I'm also an amateur radio operator, amateur astronomer, gardener, maker of furniture, photographer.

  1. I had this happen a few weeks ago. I reinstalled the app and updated my iOS, then just gave up after “reconfiguring the main power coupling” Now it works fine, but I never figured out anything. Glad I could help GF.

    1. Let’s see if this works this time.

Thanks, Jim, but I don’t use an app. I generally do everything at a desktop computer via my administrative tools. I have WP’s “platinum” commercial hosting package with access to a lot of goodies the average blogger here doesn’t have which makes things both a bit more complex and more convenient at the same time, if that makes any sense.

Things seem to be getting a bit better. On my admin site my draft posts are now showing up, and they weren’t before, comment approval seems to be working now. I suspect there are glitches happening on the backend caused by high usage. With so many people laid off, locked in their houses, kids out of school, etc. the system is probably being pushed to its limits so some problems can be expected.

Interestingly, the tool bar isn’t appearing on grouchyfarmer.com, but it *does* appear when I go to your site. Ha!

  2. I also occasionally get WordPress hiccups. About a month ago no one got email notifications of a news post. The suggested “fix” was to clear my WordPress cache right after making a post, but I forgot to do that on my last post and everything went through ok. So whatever. It’s just one of those things.
